THE COMO LAKE CUP
April 9th – 12th 2009

The prestigious International Tournament, “The Lake Como Cup”, will host approx. 45 boy’s teams. Its sister cup the Como Champions Cup is played at the same time and will host 24 girl’s teams (see separate information). The participating teams come from all over the world – USA, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Hungary and of course Italy. The finals and the prize giving will take place at the Sinigaglia Stadium, Comunale di Como.
The tournament takes place in Como and its surroundings or in the sporting centres of Chiasso and Mendrisio, which, although located in Switzerland, lie very close to Como. Lake Como is the most beautiful of the Italian Lakes and is a famous tourist city. The City of Milan, with its two famous football teams plus cutting edge fashion, culture, reastaurants and coffee houses, lies just 40 kilometres to the south During the Easter Period there are many attractions and countless sightseeing opportunities within easy travelling distance, including the “Eastern Fair” with street vendors and market stalls from all the Italian regions; Funfair – just a few kilometres away; Boat trips on the Lake; Excursion to Milan and the San Siro Stadium and Inter and AC Milan Museum; Serie “A” match at the San Siro Stadium; excursion to Venice; excursion and wine / food tasting experience in Valtellina. The tournament is open only to teams that are members of a football association registered with FIFA. Age CategoriesClass A (Pulcini) Boys (7-a-side) Born on or after 1st January 1999
Class B Boys Born on or after 1st January 1996/97
Class C Boys Born on or after 1st January 1994/95
Class D Boys Born on or after 1st January 1992/93

Thursday 9th April 2009.
Teams arrival in Como and check in at the tournament centre. Transfer to your accommodation for dinner and overnight. Friday 10th April 2009
After breakfast transfer to the sporting centres of Como and surroundings or to the Swiss Canton Ticino to play the qualification games. Dinner and overnight at hotel. Saturday 11th April 2009
At 0900 hours further qualification games begin and continue for the rest of the day. Semi-final games begin in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at hotel. Sunday 12th April 2009
Finals Day. In the afternoon the Presentation Ceremony will be held in the Sinigaglia stadium. Dinner at the hotel and departure of teams. Monday 13th April 2009
Departure of Final teams. Tournament Format
The teams will be divided into groups of 4, or possibly 5 teams, with each team playing all the others in the group. What kind of accommodation is available?
