Cantus Salisburgensis Summer

Day 1.  Thursday, 8th July 2010
Arrival and check into your accommodations. Early evening we have the opening ecumenical church service. Each group is asked to prepare one piece.  After the service meeting of all participants for a buffet and to get acquainted.  Directors and conductors meeting to discuss the following days.

Day 2.  Friday 9th July 2010 - Concert of the Nations - Mozarteum Great Hall.
Morning and afternoon: rehearsals of the individual groups for the evening concert. Each group is requested to prepare a program of secular or folk music of not more than 12 minutes. Compulsory pieces will be sung by all at the beginning and end of the concert.

Day 3.  Saturday 10th July 2010 - A Firework of Choral and Orchestra Music
Each group performs a 40-minute concert of their own choice.  Evening rehearsal of Sunday morning mass under the direction of the music director Salzburg Cathedral - Prof. Janos Czifra.

Day 4.  Sunday 11th July 2010 - High Mass Salzburg Cathedral
Morning: 9.00 am warm up, 10.am: Festival Mass in Salzburg Cathedral.
Evening: Cantus Salisburgensis grand finale with buffet, Austrian folk music and dancing.  Each group is invited to prepare one or two fun numbers from their own country to perform.

Day 5.  Monday 12th July 2010 - Departure.

Prof. Janos Czifra is a native of Hungary and has been the cathedral music director since 1989. In addition to the normal services at the cathedral, he has led the cathedral choir and orchestra in events of international interest, including two papal visits, episcopal consecrations and jubilees, festivals of sacred music and symposiums. Invitations from abroad and numerous concert tours have led Prof. Czifra and the cathedral choir to the USA, Japan and many European cities.  In 2002, he became a member of the European Academy of Science and Arts and was awarded the title of Professor.  He very much values and enjoys the opportunities to work together with the many musical guests to Salzburg and the cathedral.
